Many schools all over the world discovered the power and potential using school-wise themes to build school spirit, morale and camaraderie.
At Al-fajr International school, English, Social and Islamic Team came up with interesting and inevitable themes for every month for the year 2019-2020.
Themes are a great way to coordinate all activities throughout the year.
Students’ handbooks were printed along with this information. With the themes in mind, our daily assembly was also conducted in such a way students were given the topic and they collected material on the same.
Themes aren’t just for kids. Heads were assigned for each subject and team members were added to it. There was a healthy vie among the team members and the walls of Al-Fajr were filled with these colorful charts and projections. They stood as evidence of success till the year end.
Islamic Team’s featured the below topics:
Fasting – Its purpose, virtues; Charity, Tahara, Salah etc…
To quote one from Social – Tolerance is an important concept that helps people to live together peacefully – Our Social Team keeping this is in their mind came up with lot of Islamic related Hadith and Quran verses and taught the students.
English Department took all the Grammar topics like Noun, Verb, Adjectives, Adverbs etc… as their themes. Grammar usually becomes a dry and tough topic for the students but here we were awestruck to see colorful charts prepared by the students when the topic was given. Their talents were unleashed and we teachers had a wonderful opportunity to witness these.
WITH A LITTLE CREATIVITY — and perhaps with lot of staff input – our school created themes which motivated each and every person in the school.
Parent Teacher Meetings (PTM) are held regularly for the parents to meet the facilitators and discuss.their Ward’s progress. The PTMs are planned in such a way that parents have a chance of one to one interaction with the teachers just after the unit tests and first term exam. This enables them to know about the achievements and weaknesses of their child,so that they encourage him/her to work towards improving themselves in the required areas. PTM is very essential to ensure consistent tracking and updating the academic progress of the child and also to ensure the emotional well-being of the child.
